Here he reflects on five years at the helm of the Vaccine Alliance, steering Gavi through some of the momentous events in its 15-year history.
Berlin, 27 January 2015 – Hundreds of millions of children living in the world’s poorest countries will receive life-saving vaccines as a result of record-breaking financial commitments made today at the Gavi Pledging Conference.
Dagfinn Høybråten: “The commitments made today will ensure Gavi can make a telling contribution towards the global community’s goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030.”

Double celebration in Tanzania
Tanzania became only the second developing country to introduce two new vaccines simultaneously on Thursday. Amid scenes of celebration, pneumococcal and rotavirus vaccines were administered to children at the Buguruni Health Clinic in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.

Myanmar children to benefit from pentavalent vaccine and measles second dose
To celebrate the launch of the GAVI supported pentavalent vaccine and measles second dose in Myanmar GAVI Alliance Chairman Dagfinn Høybråten and Deputy CEO Helen Evans hosted a five-day visit to the country by six politicians from Australia and New Zealand, as well as officials from WHO, UNICEF. After decades of social and political isolation half a million children in the country will now receive protection from a range of deadly diseases including measles, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B and Hib.
