Richard Sezibera

Richard Sezibera is a member of the Senate of Rwanda and previously was the 4th Secretary-General of the East African Community, the regional intergovernmental organisation of the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Burundi.

Dr Sezibera is also a former Minister of Health for Rwanda, a post he held from October 2008 to April 2011. Prior to this, he served in many capacities in the Rwandan government, including Ambassador to the United States of America, Presidential Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region, and Senior Adviser to the President of Rwanda, where he worked on peace and security, conflict management and resolution, and regional integration issues. He has also formerly served as a Gavi Board member representing governments of developing countries.

Dr Sezibera is a medical doctor by profession.
