Bill Roedy has been active in a wide range of corporate social responsibility issues, most notably global health.
During his time as CEO of MTV Networks International (1989-2010), he was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and continues to serve in this capacity as well as Chairman of the Staying Alive Foundation. Mr Roedy is also the Chair of the Advisory Board to the Global Business Coalition and a Board Member of amFAR.
He has received numerous awards in recognition of his engagement and leadership in fighting HIV/AIDS. In 2010, Mr Roedy joined Gavi to become its first Envoy.

Bill Roedy is very active in promoting Gavi’s cause. He undertakes many international advocacy activities through his website, blogs, tweets, interviews and other media channels to help accelerate the introduction of vaccines to poor countries and prevent more children from dying.
In December 2010, Mary Robinson – former President of Ireland and Chair of the Gavi Board until 2010 – invited him to become Gavi’s first Envoy. Bill also spoke at the first Gavi Pledging Conference in London in June 2011.
Bill Roedy will use his extensive network and experience to champion the Gavi Matching Fund for Immunisation, which provides opportunities for the private sector to significantly increase their contributions to saving children’s lives through immunisation..
The initiative was launched by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi. In three simple steps, it promotes new public-private partnerships for immunisation:
UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Bill Gates have pledged about US$ 130 million combined (UK£ 50 million and US$ 50 million, respectively) to match these contributions.
