February 2012. Ghana – At an outreach vaccination session in the village of  Ado Nkwanta in Ghana’s Eastern Region, a baby boy is given a pentavalent vaccine that will protect him against five common childhood diseases.

In 2012, approximately 6.6 million children died before the age of five. WHO estimates that 1.5 million of these deaths are due to vaccine-preventable diseases.
