February 2012. Ghana – Emilia Okai, the Regional Disease Control Officer for Ghana’s Eastern Region, is delighted with the space in the new regional walk-in cold room. All routine vaccines for her region, including the pneumococcal and rotavirus vaccines to be introduced April 26, will be stored in this refrigerator.

Nearly 65 million children in Gavi-supported countries received three doses of a DTP-containing vaccine (including pentavalent vaccine) in 2014. This equals almost 200 million contacts with the primary health system every year and can provide a robust platform for other health interventions.
