India's immunisation milestone: national action, global impact
India has the largest number of unimmunised children in the world: 6.8 million or roughly a third of the world’s total. From November 2014, and with help from Gavi, India will begin making the 5-in-1 pentavalent vaccine free for all infants. With 27 million children born in India each year, increasing immunisation coverage here should significantly reduce global child mortality rates.
