GAVI support to OIC Member States

Since its inception in 2000, the GAVI Alliance has provided support to 33 Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with total disbursements of more than US$ 2.9 billion (as of 28 February 2014). This represents 50% of the Alliance’s overall disbursements (of US$ 5.9 billion) to 77 countries.

Healthy girls, healthy women. Facts & Figures

Starting in 2013, GAVI is supporting the poorest countries of the world to roll out two vaccines that will directly benefit women and girls. Vaccinating girls with human papillomavirus vaccines will help protect future generations of women against cervical cancer. Rubella vaccine protects babies from birth defects associated with congenital rubella syndrome, and helps to prevent miscarriage and stillbirth.
