Ted Chaiban

Ted Chaiban has been UNICEF’s Director of Programmes since August 2014. Prior to taking up his current role, Mr Chaiban served as UNICEF’s Director of Emergency Programmes, in a Representative capacity in Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and Sudan, as well as Regional Emergency Advisor for the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office and Deputy Chief of Operations for the Operation Lifeline Sudan consortium based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Prior to joining UNICEF in 1997, Mr Chaiban was Country Representative for the Catholic Relief Services in Haiti, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda. He also worked as a Programme Manager where he dealt with matters relating to food security and child survival.

Mr Chaiban has a BSc in Biology and Political Science from Tufts University and an MA in Development and Arab Studies from Georgetown University (USA).
