Government of Canada and Gavi deliver 200,000 doses of donated mpox vaccine to DRC
A shipment of 200,000 mpox vaccine doses donated by Canada and facilitated by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance has arrived in the DRC.
Vaccines will be delivered to countries affected by the upsurge of mpox that continues to constitute a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). The first shipment of 11, 200 doses arrived in Nigeria on 20 December.
The advance purchase agreement (APA) will be funded by Gavi’s First Response Fund, a mechanism created after the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure rapid access to scarce vaccine supplies in future health emergencies.
UNICEF today announced that it has issued an emergency tender for the procurement of mpox vaccines.
