This week, Amber Zeddies from the Gates Foundation takes over @Vaccines to tweet from the Reaching Every Community workshop in Cape Town. Here, she introduces herself:

In less than a generation, Africa has made tremendous gains in increasing access to immunization and driving down child deaths. Yet Africa’s progress on immunization has slowed, and the continent still lags behind every other region of the world in access to vaccines. This week immunization leaders and strategists will meet in South Africa to increase immunization and child survival interventions coverage through sharing of best practices. And, I will be live tweeting!

The timing couldn’t be more perfect in the lead-up to The Ministerial Conference on Immunization in Africa that will take place on February 24-25 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia when African leaders—including health and finance ministers—will come together to  demonstrate their commitment to expanding access to vaccines across the continent.

I look forward to tweeting all things vaccines during the coming week. Hope you enjoy and thanks for following @Vaccines to help make sure everyone knows that vaccines work.
