Biography
Valeria Cnossen is interim General Counsel at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, effective 16 August 2026. She is responsible for all legal aspects of Gavi’s operations. Alongside her General Counsel responsibilities, Valeria will provide interim oversight of Gavi’s Ethics, Risk and Compliance (ERC) Office.
Valeria brings more than 30 years of international legal and compliance leadership across the pharmaceutical, vaccines, biotechnology, medical devices and consumer healthcare sectors. She has held senior global legal roles at Johnson & Johnson, Crucell and Galapagos, and she brings extensive experience advising boards and executive committees in complex multinational environments. For the first ten years of her legal career, Valeria practiced corporate, banking and securities law, intellectual property law, and mergers & acquisitions at leading law firms Cravath Swaine & Moore and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek.
Valeria holds an LLM (Master of Laws) from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, in both Civil and International Law.
