Are you part of a civil society organisation (CSO)? We want to hear from you.
CSOs play a vital role in immunisation and helping the Gavi Alliance achieve its mission. As Gavi implements its 6.0 strategy and progresses its Gavi Leap transformation, the Gavi Secretariat is reviewing how civil society participates in its governance and decision-making processes. This represents an important moment of renewal for how CSOs engage in Gavi’s governance and your input to this survey will influence how civil society supports Gavi’s governance going forward.
Gavi defines civil society as the full range of formal and informal, non-governmental and not-for-profit organisations that represent the interests, expertise and values of communities. This includes community-based organisations, faith-based organisations, international and local NGOs, civil society networks, local professional associations, academia and not-for-profit advocacy organisations.
What is this survey about?
This survey focuses on how the CSO constituency is organised, supported and represented within Gavi’s governance, including how wider civil society perspectives inform that representation. The CSO constituency is the group of civil society organisations that elects the CSO Board representative and alternate, and helps them bring the perspectives of wider civil society into the Board’s decision-making to advance Gavi’s mission.
The survey does not cover other forms of CSO engagement with Gavi, such as participation in technical working groups or the implementation of programmes and activities at country level.
For this survey, Gavi’s ‘governance’ refers to the Board and the committees and subcommittees that support it and are accountable to it. You can find more information on Gavi’s Board and governance structures here. We invite you to share your views on:
- How the CSO constituency should operate and engage with Gavi’s governance
- Whether your organisation would be interested in participating in a renewed CSO constituency
Your feedback will help shape a framework for clear, transparent, effective and inclusive civil society participation in Gavi’s governance, particularly in a more constrained funding environment.
