Dr Bvudzai Priscilla Magadzire is currently changing her institutional affiliation. She had joined VillageReach in 2016 to lead the Research & Advocacy portfolio and in 2023 became the organisation’s inaugural Director of Partnerships. She drove VillageReach’s partnership strategy— which is vital for amplifying the mission across Africa and beyond—by forging high-impact alliances with various stakeholders including philanthropic foundations, governments, regional bodies, multilateral institutions, frontline implementers. More recently, she led a multi-stakeholder initiative to develop a “Policy Blueprint to Fast-track HealthTech Innovations in Africa”.
Since 2022, Dr Magadzire has served as the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) constituency representative on the Gavi Board, a constituency of more than 400 organisations. She bridges on-the-ground implementation experiences with high-level policy shaping. She also stewards the CSO constituency’s engagement with the broader Gavi Alliance and other Global Health Initiatives, including the Global Fund and the Global Financing Facility.
Prior to joining VillageReach, she spent six years as a researcher and academic at the University of the Western Cape’s School of Public Health, where she earned her PhD in Public Health. Dr Magadzire has earned prestigious honors—including the Obama Africa Leaders Fellowship and Skoll Emerging Leader’s Award—alongside research grants from the Flemish and Canadian governments. She is also a member of the Scientific Committee for the Global Symposia on Health Systems Research. Her widely cited publications span various subject areas such as access to medicines, immunisation, health supply-chains and frameworks for sustainable transitions from donor to domestic financing.
