Bvudzai Priscilla Magadzire

SENIOR TECHNICAL ADVISOR, RESEARCH & ADVOCAY, VILLAGEREACH

Bvudzai Priscilla Magadzire, has been the Senior Technical Advisor, Research & Advocacy at VillageReach since 2016. She currently leads the design and execution of evidence generation in Mozambique, DRC, Liberia and Malawi, collaborating with Ministries of Health and other partners with a goal to measure impact; inform policy and practice; and to support teams to responsibly transition donor funded solutions to government. In addition, she supports regional and global immunisation advocacy efforts through active participation in technical working groups such as the Pandemic Action Network.

Prior to joining Village Reach, Dr Magadzire was with the School of Public Health at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa for six years where she also completed her doctorate in Public Health. In her role as Researcher, she worked on various projects, including an EU funded multi-country project to investigate how the interplay of patent regimes, pharmaceutical regulation, availability of drug production facilities, primary health care infrastructure, service provision and engagement by foreign donors influence access to medicines in South Africa, Uganda and India.

Dr Magadzire has also worked in Global Health Consulting, conducting Evaluation and Research for government departments, NGOs and funder organizations operating in Sub-Saharan Africa. She contributes as a member of the Scientific Committee for the Global Symposia on Health Systems Research and has received various awards and grants – including the Obama Africa Leaders, Skoll Emerging Leaders, grants from the Flemish and Canadian governments. Through her career, Dr Magadzire is committed to elevating voices of local communities, frontline health workers and programme and policy implementers to improve last mile health delivery.
