Kazuhiko Nakamura

Kazuhiko Nakamura has been the Ambassador, Assistant Minister/Director-General for Global Issues, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan, since July 2024. He quit left the University of Tokyo, the Faculty of Law, Category II (Public Law) to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992 and obtained the Diplôme International d’Administration Publique of the French Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in 1994 (promotion René CHAR). He obtained his Doctor of Law (LL.D.) degree in Kyoto University in March 2024.

Ambassador Nakamura’s diplomatic career covers various fields ranging from political, economic to legal affairs, including Counsellor (political affairs) of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Korea (2007-2010), Director of Economic Treaties Division, International Legal Affairs Bureau of the Ministry (2013-2016), Minister (political affairs) of the Embassy of Japan in France (2016-2019), Minister (Deputy Head of Mission) of the Embassy of Japan in Israel (2019-2021) ,G7/G20 Sous Sherpa, Deputy Director-General for Economic Affairs Bureau of the Ministry (2021-2023) and Deputy Director-General for International Legal Affairs Bureau (Deputy Legal Adviser) (2023-2024).
