MDG Countdown: celebrating success and innovation

At a high-level event held during the UN General Assembly, the US and UK governments recognised GAVI as “an effective model” to achieving the Millennium Development Goals. 

Selected by an independent committee for its innovative public-private approach, GAVI was the only organisation among seven countries to be featured at the event.

Former President of Ireland and human rights activist Mary Robinson and Archbishop Desmond Tutu discussed the need for developing countries and the international community to speed up efforts to fully achieve the MDGs by the 2015 deadline.
