Geneva, 16 April 2012 - The European Parliament Magazine has published a special supplement highlighting both the critical role of immunisation in global health and the effectiveness of vaccines in addressing major diseases behind child mortality.
Investing in immunisation
The release of “Investing in Immunisation” is timed to coincide with next week's WHO Immunisation Week and includes articles by GAVI Board Chair Dagfinn Høybråten, European Development Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, the recently appointed IFFIm Board Chair René Karsenti and Members of the European Parliament.
Under the headline 'Meeting the Challenge', Ghana Minister of Health Alban Sumani K Bagbin also also writes about his country's imminent introduction of two lifesaving vaccines - pneumococcal and rotavirus - with GAVI support. The launch is scheduled for 26 April.
