Reina Buijs

Reina Buijs is Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms Buijs has been with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2001, initially as a policy advisor in the area of health and nutrition before moving to the Division for Health and HIV/AIDS where she was responsible for the policy on sexual and reproductive health and rights (2003–2011). Between 2011 and 2013 she served as His Majesty’s Ambassador in Nicaragua.

Ms Buijs spent the early part of her career in Ecuador, Nicaragua and Zimbabwe working as a public nutritionist (1986–2000), and has worked with several UN agencies and partners, NGOs and the private sector.

Ms Buijs holds an MSc in Human Nutrition from Wageninger University & Research (Netherlands) and a Masters of Public Health from the Netherlands School of Public Health.
