Aamer Ikram is a renowned microbiologist and biosafety expert, currently serving as the Executive Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has a medical background coupled with advanced training in microbiology from Pakistan, the UK and the US.
Professor Ikram is a registered biosafety expert with professional associations in the UK and the US and is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors, International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA). Additionally, he is also Chair of the Advisory Board of TEPHINET (Training Programmes in Epidemiology & Public Health Interventions Network), and a member of Biosecurity & Health Security Protection (BSP) at WHO. Professor Ikram is a passionate academic and a prolific writer with more than 350 publications.
