Bayer Foundation, Bayer’s philanthropic arm, partners with Gavi to improve immunisation and primary health care access for under-served communities, with a focus on zero-dose children, stronger health systems and scalable community-based models.

The partnership began in Madagascar, where support for Doctors for Madagascar helped vaccinate over 40,000 under-immunised and zero-dose children through primary health care and catch-up vaccination services in hard-to-reach areas. Building on this success, a second phase is planned to expand the model and engage additional partners.

In Nigeria, Bayer Foundation is co-funding a US$ 3.38 million women’s health and immunisation initiative in Kaduna State through Gavi’s Matching Fund. The project aims to educate 90,000 women and facilitate vaccination for at least 40,000 women and children, particularly in under-served communities.

Bayer Foundation also co-funds Gavi’s value-chain health portfolio, which integrates healthcare into agricultural supply chains. Through partnerships in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Uganda, the Foundation supports programmes that expand immunisation, strengthen health services, improve health financing; and enhance resilience for cocoa-, cotton- and coffee-farming communities. Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate how public-private partnerships can improve health outcomes while supporting sustainable livelihoods and stronger local economies.
