Indonesia represents a successful model of transition from an implementing country to an important contributor to global health, supported by a strong immunisation programme and resilient health system. Over the course of 22 years of partnership with Gavi, the country has doubled the number of vaccines offered through its routine immunisation programme, reduced child mortality four-fold and transitioned through all stages of Gavi support.

With strong commitment to prevention-oriented health interventions, in December 2024, President Prabowo Subianto made a pledge of US$ 30 million to Gavi’s global immunisation efforts from 2026–2030, marking a historic contribution to Gavi core programme by a middle-income country that has transitioned from Gavi support.
