The Hellenic Republic became a donor to Gavi in 2020, pledging €1.5 million (US$ 1.8 million) through the Gavi COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC) to support lower-income countries’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including strengthening health systems and expanding equitable access to vaccines. 

The Hellenic Republic has since reaffirmed its support for global immunisation and health security through its participation in the replenishment process for Gavi's 2026–2030 strategic period (Gavi 6.0). At the Global Summit: Health & Prosperity through Immunisation in Brussels in June 2025, the Hellenic Republic renewed its commitment to Gavi’s mission by pledging €5 million (US$ 5.8 million) in 5 instalments to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases, strengthen outbreak preparedness and advance global health security under Gavi 6.0. The Hellenic Republic’s contributions have helped expand access to life-saving vaccines, improving the health and well-being of children and contributing to lives saved
