The Gamers Without Borders (GWB) initiative was launched by HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, President of the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF). The initiative has run three worldwide competitions (2020, 2021 and 2022), each with a US$ 10 million prize fund for charities. The 2023 season prize money grew to US$ 45 million. Winning players from international tournaments donated a share of the GWB prize money to charities working to strengthen global health and support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, including Gavi.
King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Foundation (KSrelief) manages the grants for GWB, including disbursements of funds to the charities.
Gavi received a total of US$ 2,654,500 from three GWB competitions to support the COVID-19 response, with US$ 1,339,500 in 2020 and US$ 965,000 in 2021. For 2022, GWB supported the zero-dose agenda with US$ 350,000.
