The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a valued partner of Gavi since 2012, supporting immunisation and broader health system strengthening efforts for vulnerable populations. An initial US$ 1.5 million contribution, matched through the Gavi Matching Fund, marked the beginning of a partnership that has since expanded to include advocacy, community mobilisation, disease surveillance, outbreak response, health worker training and disease elimination efforts.
In 2023, the Church contributed US$ 3 million, matched through the Gavi Matching Fund, to support the introduction of malaria vaccines in Africa. Building on more than a decade of collaboration, the partnership reached a new milestone in 2025 with a five-year framework valued at up to US$ 17.5 million to advance immunisation and primary health care outcomes in Africa. Under this arrangement, an initial US$ 3.5 million commitment has been confirmed for 2026, with annual renewals of funding subject to the achievement of agreed programme milestones. If these milestones are met each year, total support could reach US$ 17.5 million over the 2026–2030 period. The funding framework allocates US$ 10 million to malaria vaccine procurement and delivery; and up to US$ 7.5 million to expand the Integrate Health model from Guinea to an additional West African country, reflecting a shared commitment to accountability, measurable impact and long-term sustainability.
Since 2012, the Church has mobilised approximately US$ 22 million for Gavi, excluding Matching Fund contributions. The partnership exemplifies how values-driven philanthropy can accelerate vaccine access, strengthen health systems and improve health outcomes at scale.
