Carmen Coles Tull has over 20 years of experience managing and implementing maternal and child health programmes worldwide. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In this role, she manages the Office’s staff, budget, and programmes to advance one of the Agency’s top global health priorities – preventing child and maternal deaths. Prior to this, she served as the Division Chief for Child Health and Immunization Division, within the Office of Maternal and Child Health, where she oversaw USAID’s annual US$ 290 million annual contribution to Gavi and its US$ 59 million portfolio of activities supporting global polio eradication.
Ms Tull joined USAID in 2007 in the Office of Population and Reproductive Health, where she co-led the Repositioning Family Planning initiative, which is an effort to increase both political and financial commitment for family planning in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ms Tull also served in the United States Peace Corps in Benin, West Africa. She received a Master of Public Policy degree from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University.
